“Same Children. Same Team. Brighter Tomorrow.” 🌻 That was the message welcoming families to PTM 2 at LAKSH International School, Kisannagar, and it summed up the day perfectly. Parents and teachers sat down together, went through every child’s progress report, celebrated our achievers and planned the next steps as one team.
This article shares the highlights of the day, the full list of our Students of the Month, and a practical guide to help every parent read and act on their child’s progress report.

PTM 2 at LAKSH Kisannagar: Same Children, Same Team, Brighter Tomorrow
Our Kisannagar campus held its second Parent Teacher Meeting of the year on 20 September 2026. Families were greeted by a colourful welcome board built around a giant sunflower, with the words “Same Children, Same Team, Brighter Tomorrow” at its centre.
Around it, our students had pinned messages of thanks to their teachers: “Thank you, Teacher, for helping me grow and shine”, “Behind every good student is a great teacher” and “Every student can learn, just not on the same day or in the same way.” It set exactly the right tone for a day about partnership.

Parents then met class teachers and our management, reviewed their child’s progress report and notebooks, and discussed how each child is growing in learning, confidence and character.
6 Highlights of the Day
1. A Welcome Wall That Thanked Our Teachers
The PTM welcome board did more than greet parents. It reminded everyone that teachers, parents and students share one goal. Quotes such as “Invest in our teachers, and our children will succeed” and “The influence of a good teacher can never be erased” made many parents stop, read and smile.
2. “Scan & See”: A QR Video Wall for Parents
One of the most talked-about moments of the day was our Scan & See wall. Each child had a QR code pinned to a bright pink board. Parents simply scanned their child’s code with their phone and watched a short video of their own child, right there in the corridor.
It was a simple idea with a big impact. Parents could see their child speaking confidently on camera, and many saved the videos to share with family. It is a small example of how LAKSH uses everyday technology to bring parents closer to their children’s learning, the same approach that earned us the rank of 1st in Telangana for technology integration.

3. One-on-One Progress Conversations
Teachers sat with each family to go through the progress report subject by subject. They explained marks, shared examples from notebooks and assessments, and listened to what parents see at home. The best conversations ended with clear, simple next steps.

4. Our Management Met Families Personally
Our management personally met parents and children to review progress, answer questions and hear feedback. Senior students joined some conversations too, taking part in discussions about their own goals, which is exactly the kind of ownership we want every child to develop.

5. Topper Trophies for FA-2
Students who topped their classes in FA-2 (the second Formative Assessment) received gleaming “Topper” trophies from our management. From our youngest learners to senior students, the thumbs-up and proud smiles said everything. In all, 118 students secured Rank 1 in their sections, and you will find every name in the Honour Roll below. Another 71 students topped their sections in Weekend Exam 8.
6. Students of the Month Celebrated
Twenty-three students were named Students of the Month for August 2026, one from each section of every class. You will find every name in the Honour Roll below.

How to Read Your Child’s Progress Report
A progress report can look like a page of numbers, but it tells a much richer story when you know where to look. Here is a simple way to read it.

1. Start with the overall picture. Before looking at any single subject, notice the general pattern. Is your child doing steadily across subjects, or are one or two subjects clearly stronger or weaker?
2. Look at each subject. Check the marks or grades for every subject. Note the strongest subject, because that is where your child’s confidence comes from, and the weakest, because that is where support will make the biggest difference.
3. Compare with the last progress report. One result on its own says little. A rise from the last assessment is worth celebrating even if the mark is not the highest in the class. A drop is worth a calm conversation.
4. Read the teacher’s remarks carefully. Remarks are often the most useful part of the progress report, because they describe how your child learns, not just what they scored.
5. Check attendance and punctuality. Regular attendance is closely linked to steady progress. Missed days usually mean missed lessons.
6. Look beyond academics. Many progress reports include art, sports, values, participation and behaviour. These show how your child is growing as a whole person.
Decoding Common Teacher Remarks
Teachers write remarks in a few words, but each one carries a message. Here is what some common remarks usually mean, and how you can help at home:
| Remark | What it usually means | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| “Can do better” | Your child understands the work but is not giving full effort | Ask what feels boring or hard, and set one small daily goal |
| “Needs to be more attentive” | Your child gets distracted in class | Check sleep and screen time, and practise short focused study sessions |
| “Should practise more” | Concepts are understood but not yet secure | Add 10 to 15 minutes of daily revision for that subject |
| “Good but careless” | Your child knows the answers but makes avoidable mistakes | Encourage checking work before submitting |
| “Quiet in class” | Your child may be shy or unsure | Praise them for sharing ideas at home, and ask the teacher for small speaking roles |
| “Excellent participation” | Your child is engaged and confident | Celebrate it, and keep encouraging curiosity |
| “Improving steadily” | Real progress is happening | Tell your child you noticed, because praise for effort keeps them going |
If a remark is unclear, ask the teacher at the PTM: “Can you give me an example of what you mean?” A specific example turns a general remark into a clear plan.
7 Powerful Tips to Act on Your Child’s Progress Report
Reading the progress report is step one. Acting on it is what makes the difference. Here are seven tips that work:
- 💛 Start with praise. Before discussing any weak area, tell your child one thing in the progress report that made you proud.
- 🎯 Pick one or two goals, not ten. Children cannot fix everything at once. Choose the one or two areas that matter most.
- 📅 Build a small daily routine. Fifteen to twenty minutes of focused practice every day beats a long session once a week.
- 📖 Make reading a daily habit. Reading improves vocabulary, comprehension and writing, and it helps in every subject on the progress report.
- 🤝 Stay in touch with the teacher. Send a short message after two or three weeks to ask how things are going. Do not wait for the next PTM.
- 🚫 Avoid comparisons. Comparing your child’s progress report with a sibling’s or classmate’s rarely motivates. Compare them only with their own past results.
- 🎉 Celebrate progress, not just marks. When the next progress report shows improvement, celebrate the effort behind it, even if the mark is not perfect.
Helping Your Child Handle Progress Report Stress
For many children, progress report day brings butterflies in the stomach. Some worry about disappointing their parents; others compare themselves with friends. How parents respond can turn that worry into motivation, or into fear.
Here is how to keep the experience healthy:
- 🫂 Stay calm, whatever the marks. Children watch your face before they hear your words. A calm reaction tells them it is safe to talk.
- 👂 Ask before you advise. “How do you feel about your progress report?” often reveals more than any lecture. Many children already know where they struggled.
- 🔄 Separate the child from the marks. Make it clear that a low score is about a topic, not about who they are. “This chapter was tough” is very different from “You are weak in maths.”
- 🌟 Notice the small wins. Better handwriting, one improved subject or a kind remark from a teacher are all worth mentioning.
- 🛑 Watch for signs of stress. Trouble sleeping, stomach aches before school or avoiding talk about studies can signal anxiety. If you notice these, speak to the class teacher so we can support your child together.
A progress report is a snapshot of one moment, not a verdict on a child’s future. When children feel supported, they are far more likely to work hard for the next one.
Progress Beyond Marks: Skills That Matter
Marks are important, but a good progress report also reflects the skills that will matter for the rest of your child’s life. At LAKSH, teachers also watch for:
- 🗣️ Confidence and communication: speaking up in class, presenting and expressing ideas clearly.
- 🤝 Teamwork and kindness: working well with classmates and helping others.
- 💻 Digital skills: using technology wisely, from our new AI lab to everyday learning tools.
- 🧠 Thinking skills: asking questions, solving problems and learning from mistakes.
- 🌱 Values and responsibility: honesty, discipline, respect and taking care of one’s work.
These qualities grow slowly and quietly, and they deserve just as much attention as the numbers on the progress report.
Technology That Keeps Parents Closer
The Scan & See QR wall is one example of how LAKSH uses technology to strengthen the bond between home and school. Across our campuses, students learn with smart classrooms, AI tools and new AI labs, as part of our AI learning programme for students. At Kisannagar, students now learn coding, research and AI in our new AI lab.
This focus on meaningful technology is why LAKSH International Schools was ranked 1st in Telangana and 4th in India for Technology Integration by Education World. For parents, it simply means more ways to see, understand and support their child’s progress.
